BINGO FUN

Last night we all went to our church's Family Bingo Night. We had a great time. Last year only B and I went. This year we all went. The doors opened at 6:00 and so we got there then. Let me say the place was packed! We had to sit in the back of the Playdium (those from my past know that place). It was so nice to see so many families out for a night of fun. The crowd was nuts and the number calling was fast. B was sad that she did not win this year, but A was happy that she did win. B was able to sit next to one of her good friends, so the night was a good one.

The funniest part was as the numbers were being called A continued to ask me if she had that one. As I told her she did not, she responded with a rather loud "Aw dammit!" as she hit the table with her fist. Thank goodness the crowd was louder and no one heard her. I again had to explain that we don't say that word and she should say "Oh darn" instead.

The night was a long one, but good time was had by all. Who knew BINGO was so much fun with the kids?

A's Comments

In the car on the way home from health club...
Me: When we get home I am going to jump in the shower and then we will go to story time.
A: Don't forget about my option.
Me: What are you talking about?
A: my option to watch tv when you are in the shower.

My Purple Wall

I have been trying to think of a color to use for our fireplace wall for a long time. I have no skill when it comes to decorating. I like to think I do, but I don't. in my head the ideas look great, but reality is that they do not. Sort of reminds me of my crafting ability. I watch the design shows and wish and hope that what I watch will be transferred by osmosis and the ability to transform my yucky home into a dream home will be there. But alas, it doesn't seem to work that way.

Anyway, I finally decided that dark purple would work with my dark green couches. Red too, but I don't want a forever Christmas room. After about 1 hour with my "helper" my job was finished and this is what I have now. Sorry for no BEFORE shots. I forgot due to the enthusiasm of A wanting to get into the paint and brush. But I'm sure you can figure it out with the rest of the walls being tan. This one was too.

The only problem now is that I like this wall, but now feel like the rest of the wall need new paint. Perhaps a grey-ish color?

Another Story Teller

Some of you long time readers might remember a few stories that B was telling in Kindergarten. Well apparently it is in the genetic genes for now A is doing some telling of her own. The other day she had a playdate right after school. I did let the mom know that she has no issues, allergies, potty,...you mom's know what I'm talking about. In fact A is a very good playdate Buddie. She is easy going and loves to play. Well, when I went to pick A up, Nicole (the mom) informed me that A was super good and even reminded her of the things she is allergic to.

What?! A is not allergic to anything.

Oh, according to A that is not true. She told Nicole at lunch time that she is allergic to peanuts and apples. I had to laugh and remind Nicole that I told her A has no allergies. She said that is what she thought, but A was so serious about it that she wanted to play it safe. I corrected A about being allergic, in front of Nicole, but she insisted that she really was allergic to these things. I am not sure how ones goes about explaining about allergies and that saying she is allergic is not a good thing to a 3 1/2 year old.

Wonder what she has told other moms?

Valentine's Day Complete

It is interesting how holidays change over the years. Gone are the dinner and fancy outfit night, hello family fun.
B remembers things like my sister Victoria. If it happened once than it now becomes a tradition and can not be forgotten or changed. For the past 2 years Tom has brought the girls a Valentine's day balloon. This would be due to the fact that he has forgotten the day and found this quick and easy fix at the grocery store. So now B has it set in stone that she must receive a Valentine's Day balloon every year from Daddy. Good thing that I reminded him at 5:00am. The girls were so happy to get their huge balloons from Daddy. My bag of "gifts" were well received too. In fact since the balloon was attached to the gift bag they assumed the presents were from Daddy too. How does that work?!

For family fun we decided to go downtown to the winter snow festival. Being that there is finally grass, the snow festival was not so fun. In fact I do believe B stated that "This was dumb and can we go home now?" more than once. Her excitement picked up once we found the huge snow sculptures. They were rather neat and impressive.

"Where the Wild Things Are"

From Caterpillar to Butterfly

After the sculptures we decided to make our way down Michigan Ave. and hopefully get to the American Girl Store. Yes, I think I like the store more than B. Tom did not think the girls could walk all the way. Boy was he surprised when the girls made it perfectly. Not a whine in sight! B told Daddy,"When there is shopping to do we can walk."
We even took a few minutes (and photos) at the Bean.

After each girl got one thing at the AMG store we went to eat. After dinner we figured we would walk till the whining began and then get in a cab. All of a sudden right as we were crossing the river a bunch of fire works started going off! They were right in front of us and so pretty. It was a great surprise. The girls loved it, minus the loud noise of course. It was the perfect break to the walk. In fact the girls made it all the way back to the car too. Little A was jumping and singing the entire way. She kept telling me to let go of her hand so she could run. I tried to explain that there were too many people and that it was dark so I could not let her loose. She then told me, "Not to worry for she would just zigzag through the people." Good idea, but I still didn't let go of the little hand. It was funny as A continued to sing High School Musical songs the number of people who would chime in with her. She sure is a funny little girl who loves a crowd.

B informed us that this was the best Valentine's Day ever. Guess I need to see if it has to be done again next year.

Been A While

I can't believe I have not posted since last week. I am so sorry. I know I can't stand it when the blogs I read don't post new stuff for me to read daily. And then here I am doing the exact same thing. I guess it is just more fun sometimes to read other's stuff than to type my own.

In the past week I have joined a women only weight toning class, made and frosted 25 large heart sugar cookies, tackled upteen messes, fixed one basement light fixture, (this required me to rewire the light switch box), many loads of laundry (my girls have discovered the quickest way to "clean" their room is to throw all the laundry clean or dirty in the laundry basket), time outside, had portraits taken of the girls, printed Valentine's day cards, addressed them and sent them out, sent out Valentine's Day surprises, and attended a mini high school reunion. I know compared to your week I still should have blogged, but remember I am not as good as you.

I am proud of myself for joining the weight class at the gym. I am not a big fan of doing something without a friend along. I do not like new groups of strangers. I decided however that this would be a great opportunity for me to learn some toning techniques. So I did it and liked it.

The second major adventure for me was my high school reunion. It was not a special year or anything, just a facebook idea. Quite a few different graduating classes met at a local bar and had a good time. Why is this a big deal? Well I don't talk to anyone really from high school anymore. I do a little due to facebook, but not in person. So I was not sure I wanted to attend this gathering. Plus, back to my fear, I did not have a friend to go with. I made myself go with the plan that once I got there I would know people. I made it and had fun! One never gets tired of hearing,"You look exactly the same!" or "Why don't you look older?" It was also fun to see the girls that have changed. Some of them not for the better by the way.

Not the most exciting post, but that about sums up my week. I will try to do better next time.

Princess Hair

A's favorite thing to do for the last couple of weeks is to wear an old baby blanket on her head. You know the type. The blankets that have the little pocket for the baby's head to fit into. Well A puts it on her head (which does not fit as you know) and pretends that the blanket down her back is her princess hair. She will go around the house asking us what we think of her new hair. She will also brush it and fix it. It is cute, funny and strange all in one.

Valentine's Day Time

Now that it is February, it is time to start Valentine's Day preparations. So today I had the girls make some hearts to hang on our mantle. We used coffee filters that I cut into hearts and water color paints. The girls had fun and liked the end result. It was a super easy activity, just remember to put newspaper down for the filters don't hold much water/paint.
