A New Big Girl Bike

A was super excited today when she saw this after camp. our good friends dropped it off just in time. I have been looking for a bike for her and didn't want to spend money on one. I figured she would only ride it for a little while, then she would be tall enough for B's old one. I searched and asked, and no luck. I was all ready to go to Walmart and get one when my friend called saying she found a little one for A. I was happy, but A was super happy.
She got on it right away and rode off on the driveway. She was so proud of herself. I was too. Even B thought it was neat to see her on a "real" bike. Now all I need to do is fix the helmet since it was big sister's, and she is good to go!

She is only 4!

A's new favorite thing to do is put on make-up. I recently bought the girls some mommy approved make-up and they have had a blast. I came down the other morning to find this. A had brought down the mirror and made herself comfortable while she began the application process. What will I do when she is 13?

Strawberry Picking

Today I took the girls strawberry picking. We went with my friend who has twin 4 year old girls. This is something I remember doing with my Grandparents many, many years ago. We arrived at the farm at 9:00 and had a very HOT time. We decided that we are not geared for migrant work. The girls did a good job, but 4 year olds are not the best pickers. Add the heat and they were "finished" after about 20 minutes. In their defense, I too was finished after about 20 minutes. The problem was that I had yet to fill my baskets with the sweet juicy goodness. B was ready to trade her half basket for my almost full one. As soon as A saw this she too wanted to trade up. I knew her motive was all about eating not picking so I was not quick to trade with her. All in all the girls did great and we ended up leaving with 2 baskets full. Now to decide what to make with all of these.

Racetrack Fun

We hit Arlington park for Father's day this year. The horse track is always a good time since we go only once a year. It was neat to see just how into it the girls were this year. I did not think they would make it all day, but once again I was surprised. What was shocking was the fact that B was more into placing bets with Daddy than eating! I don't even think she asked for food!

Daddy and B had great fun picking horses and going to place the bets. B even caught a few mistakes that Daddy made. She was big on colors and when she found the horse named Saint B she was all over this one.

Little A was really into cheering the horses on. She loved to watch the horses run by and really got into which number won. The funny part was when she saw the "follow horse" ( I don't know what the real name or the job of this horse and rider is, but they follow behind the racers) anyway... as A saw this horse cross the finish line, well after the others, she said,"That is so sad that he is all by himself" I then tried to explain that he was not a race horse he just stayed close in case one got hurt.

The weather was good and the family time was even better. It was a good Father's day if you ask me.

Oh What A NIght...

I have been looking forward to some heat for a while now. I mean it is the middle of June. So yesterday's 80+ degrees was so very welcome. The only problem was the night. I am way too cheep to turn on the AC for one night. The girls were not easy to put down for the night even with most of the day spent at the pool. A was up till almost 9:00! I think B fell asleep before that. First it was "just too hot" then it was "Daddy, PLEASE bring up a fan." Then you know what comes after the fan is in the room..." I can't feel it" and "it is still too hot". I finally told them if I heard anymore I would take the fan away and they would just sweat till they fell asleep. Well it got them quiet at least :)

I fell asleep on the couch during the last 15 minutes of my show. I hate that for now I have no idea how it ended. Good thing I woke up right as the news came on so I could get to bed at my normal time. But now I was a tad hot too. I think I fell asleep and then hubby came in. I'm awake now due to all his tossing and turning. Finally I told him to go get the stupid fan and knock it off. The fan resulted in the banging up 2 flights of stairs, turning on the bedroom light, and asking me 2 questions. Yes all this at about 12:30. Not too happy. Now I can't fall back to sleep due to the fan noise. Luckily hubby decided it was not enough and he would go to the basement to sleep since it is cold down there. Great thanks for waking me up and on your way out turn off the fan.

Just about to fall asleep and there is a strange beeping noise. I look and see that it is about 2:15. What the heck is making that noise. Hubby, who is once again in our bed, does not move so I figure he does not hear it. I get up and go on the hunt. I find it in the basement. It is the smoke alarm. Now I don't smell or see anything that would make the alarm go off, so I yank out the battery and go back to bed. Wait! is it just a smoke detector or is it also a CO2 detector? Crap! I can't remember. Is our house filling up with CO2? Is that why I am tired? I figure I will just wait to see if the next detector in the kitchen goes off. Yeah. right. Like I am going to wait and see if my babies die. So I go down to the computer and try to figure out what kind of detector I have. Basically mine does not match any of the ones pictured on the website so I figure it is just smoke. Back to bed.

3:30 and I am startled awake not by the storm, but by a loud crash from downstairs. Look over at hubby and he once again does not move. Man he can sleep through anything! This time I try to think about what would have made that noise. I figure it can't be anything too major and I am not going to go look for it. It already fell so it will wait till morning. (just to let you know it was the large bulletin board I have in the kitchen. I found this in the morning)

Well no luck going right back to sleep. 5:00 rolls around and more thunder. 7:00 and A screams for B, who is downstairs. Nothing like jumping out of sleep for that one. Well now I am up and still rather tired. Perhaps I will nap when they go to camp.

Nah! I will take a few moments to blog.

Quick Update

I have been getting a bit of flack from true Laugh and Tears blog readers that it has been a LONG time since I last posted. I have been busy once again. Plus now with a few days of nice weather I am no longer at my computer much. In fact I have not checked email or facebook, or other blogs in 2 days! usually I'm on a few times per day. It has been nice with the girls out of school and no real schedule. We (I) have been sleeping in and it is nice to not have to rush out the door.

The girls have started their week of Bible Camp. It is great so far. They both had a lot of fun today and can't wait to go back tomorrow. I have to say I did like the couple of hours to myself too. I got some Father's day shopping done and it was nice without the girls. Then we spent the rest of the day outside. I love that there is finally some sun and do not like the fact that the rain is coming back. We have been able to get to the beach a few times and the water/sprinkler park. It sure makes me miss the sun after days with it. I also sure am glad that I get to stay home and play now with the girls. I'm not sure I would like to have to go to work and not have all this fun. I am actually looking forward to the rest of the summer and am glad that it has just started. Not sure I will still be saying this in a few weeks, but for now I'm loving it.

Well it is time to get one stinky tired little girl in a bath. This will be neither easy nor quite. Sorry for the boring blog and the lack of them. I will try to add a few photos next time.
