Day One In Naples

We made it to Naples! The girls did a great job in the car. 2 days in the car was hard, but we had a good time. Well, Tom maybe didn't have a great time, but the girls and I did.
I am using Tom's'phone to do this blog so I hope it works.

Today we began at the beach. The girls spent lots of time collecting shells. All was good intill A took the shell bucket and dumped it out so she could put sand in it. Good idea, bad choice of buckets. B was very upset. Lucky for A the shells were easy to repick up from the sand for they were still in one pile. B said her highlight of the day was wave jumping. My highlight was laying on the beach while Tom had both kids with him.

We also had a surprise visit with cousin Vinny. It turned out that Penn was in town for a basketball game. Since Vince calls the games he was in town too. So to the game we went. Lucky for me I left the girls with Tom and went to the outlet mall that was down the street from the campus. Yes,so far this trip has been good for me too.

Well, typing with these tiny buttons is no longer fun so this is all for today.

Are We There Yet?

This is the phrase I will be chanting, as well as the girls, for the next 2 days. Why? You might be asking? Tom and I decided this morning (around 11:30) that we would drive to Florida for the week! Now I did start to freak out a little for I usually have a week or more to organize things before we fly to Fl. This time we will be in a car for 2 days and I have less than 24 hours to get it all done. My master organizational skills are now being put to the test. Plus as many of you know my husband is good, but does not do much of the prep work. I find myself giving him little jobs to do like I do for the girls. You know...bring up all the Christmas boxes so I can take all Christmas stuff down, pack for yourself, go away . Again, many of the things I tell the girls.

So with all the stuff I need to do why am I blogging? I wanted to let you all know why I might not blog for the next week, and to apologize to all of those that I had made plans with for I need to cancel. More importantly I am in total denial and in full procrastination mode so it is going to be a LONG night.

Wish me luck and pray that we make it. For all I know 1 might end up driving home and the rest flying no matter the cost.

Cookie Time With Uncle John

Once again Uncle John requested the help of the girls. Little did he know what he was getting himself into. The girls were very happy to join him for a day of baking 4 different types of cookies. A was just as good a helper as B was. This was a surprise to Uncle John for he was not sure of her abilities in the kitchen. B was pretty good too, but she would quickly loose interest and mom had to take over.

It was nice to spend the day with my brother in the kitchen. He is a great cook and loves to bake Christmas cookies. He really does bake about 10 different types from peanut butter to white peppermint fudge. He also does breads to give out as gifts. Many of the cookies are straight from my Grandmother's collection. With this being the second Christmas without her, it was wonderful smelling all her goodies.

The day went well and I got out of cleaning my house. Lots still to do now that Tom and I decided that 2 days before Christmas would be a great time to repaint a few walls. At least the walls look better.

So Far So Good

I am amazed at myself this year. Usually I am running around trying to get my act together for the big day of Christmas. Well not so much this year. I am actually ahead of schedule! I know, knock on wood, for I'm sure tomorrow my starter of a cold will be worse and I won't want to continue working on Christmas prep. So for now I am tooting my own horn and patting myself on the back.

I have cleaned out the dining room. You all know this room. It is our mudroom for 364 days. One day of the year it is actually used as a dinning room. Christmas morning I use it in all its glory to host Christmas brunch for my family. This clean out entails finding all sorts of things that need to be put away, or finished projects, or things that need to be paid/sent/or returned. It took me all day yesterday, but by the end I even got the tables ready. Well, not totally ready for the dishes are not out or anything, but the tablecloth is on them. It was a job well done.

Today was my Costco run. I figured I would try to do the food prep ahead of time too. I tallied all the eggs and cheese and bread I would need and hit Costco with A in tow. I figured if I wait much longer it will really become a mad house, and I want none of that. So in just 45 minutes I was all finished. I did however plan to also pick up photos and return a gift, but totally forgot to download the photos and never got to finding the gift. So I will be back there tomorrow, but it should be a quick visit.

Tomorrow I plan to wrap. I usually save this till the 23rd, nap time, but since both girls are not golden nappers, I have to plan ahead. I figure my best bet is while B is at school and A is glued to the tv. So that means in between B's school function I get to wrap and try to return a few more gifts. I also want to try to finish B's fleece blanket. I did A's today so I am on a roll.

Speaking of wrapping... It will be interesting to see just what I have purchased for my girls, on top of the pony, for this holiday. I have begun to take some things back due to the pony purchase, but I know there are more things around the house that would not fit into my closet. It will also be interesting to see if the present count for the girls is equal. Tonight we let the girls open any gifts that came in the mail. B was not happy that A got to open 3 presents and she only got to open 2. I tried to explain this by telling her that if she has more presents on Christmas than A we will have to take some away, right? Yea, that really didn't work. Her response was that "now it is A's turn to see how it feels when I have more presents than she does" Not bad huh? I so forget who I am talking to sometimes.

To all of my procrastinating friends I wish you luck!

Cookie Parties 2007

Well the long awaited day has come and gone. This was year 1 for A and her friends. For B it was year 3. Yes, I start the party thing at a young age. I found that this is one party that is not done. I was pleased at how many moms commented on what a great idea this is. I love doing it actually. I think the kids have such fun cutting out cookies and decorating them. It was also so fun to see the differences between parties.
A's did a lot more of dump the decorations on the dough and then mash it together. All the moms had fun at this one since they had to stay and help. Perhaps we had more fun chatting and drinking coffee than the kids had playing together. They did more running around than decorating, but when it was time to get the finished cookies you could hear a pin drop as they all began eating their fine work.

B's group of 12 was a little more wild. The constant question of "what are we going to do next" was getting on my nerves. Especially when they could see that I was busy getting cookies in and out of the oven. Thank goodness Tom was there to help (volunteer as B says). He did a great job. As the photo shows, Tom even began a train/conga line with the group. It was a good time. I was surprised by the number of gifts B got for being the host. Such nice manners these kids have :)
I did a lot of work for this event. From hand making aprons for all of A's guests to planning activities for B's group to buying and wrapping prizes for the games. B did help with some of these things, but I have already begun stocking up for next year's parties. It was a long day and I was tired at the end. Plus, if I see any more cookie dough it will be too soon.

Memories

So I have spent the better part of 2 nights at the computer downloading photos. I am now in my end of the year rush to get Tom's photo calender finished. This is not a huge deal, just time consuming. I mean how do I look at a year of pictures and pick 12?! Lucky for me shutterfly has upped their calender program so I can add 5 or more photos on a page! Great for the addition of photos, bad for the many more I now get to choose. I had a great time with colors and titles. Perhaps that is really what took me so long. I really think this is the best one yet. I can't wait to see it when it gets here. I'm sure, like last year, I won't even wait till Christmas to give it to him.

Another photo project I decided to tackle was scanning in photos from his parents wedding album. Yup, that is Tom's Mom and Dad on their wedding day way back in 1947. Tom's brother Danny was super nice bringing the album to us and I thought the least I can do is actually scan it. This did not take lots of time either, but the making of the album for us to have took time. I really like how it came out too. Well I like how it looks on the computer screen, we'll see how it looks for real when it gets here.
I have also spent hours trying to find a few more gift ideas for the girls. Uncle Danny wants to send them something too. I wish I got as many gifts as these two get! I really had a hard time now since they really don't need anything, plus with all my family and friends I am out of ideas. Thanks to Jennifer, I found a puppet theater and then I added the outdoor ice rink that I thought would be cool to have. Go leaps and bounds!
So now my eyes are tired and it is well after my bed time. It is time to do one last potty run with B and off to bed.

Ice Day

I awoke to the sound of the phone ringing. Oh my who died? What time is it? Wow! It is 7:00am and no one died. It was the school phone tree letting us know that B does not have school today on account of the ice storm. She heard her name and ran into my bed. Next the tv went on and she was super happy. I too was happy for this meant I could go back to sleep. I was not really tired, but just putting off the dizzy spell that hits when I get out of bed.

At 7:30 I decided enough was enough and it was really time to get going. I got A up and dressed and then B picked out comfy wear and all went down for breakfast. I, being a good mom, made oatmeal and then let them eat it in front of the Tv. Ok, the tv might not go under a "good mom", but I'll take what I can get.

I went to the computer to finish up Tom's present and lost track of time. I didn't see that coming :) Quickly I showered and got the girls out for A's class. B and I then were off to get a few things for her cookie party this weekend. B decided that we should go out to lunch after we picked up A. I didn't need much prodding for she wanted to eat at Panera. After lunch of sandwiches and soup we went to get B's hair cut. I didn't have much taken off, just enough to make it look better. Then over to Jewel for a few more cookie party items. You know dough, decorations, and a few other essentials. By the time we got home I was a tad tired and it was time for naps.

After naps back to work for me. Tom is out tonight so it is all me. Good thing I am feeling so much better. I will say I have yet to tip my head over for the fear of the dizzies.

Time to get off the computer for my youngest wants to have " my Elmo on".

Again!?!?!

It seems that I have been hit by the vertigo bug again. I woke up Friday morning to mega dizziness and wanting to vomit. I have not had vertigo for a few wonderful years, but alas, it seems to be back. Tom stayed home from work and I spent the day in bed or on the recliner in an upright position as to not begin spinning. I really hate this illness and hate it more for the lack of drugs they can give me for it. I did finally get some motion sickness pills around 3:00 and they seem to help. Nothing stronger however like I was hoping for.

Saturday I did another day on the couch and tried to get up and do a few things around the house. Still not up to par, but starting to get tired of laying on my back. Literally on my back. If I go on a side my head begins to spin.

Sunday I skipped mass and my mom's birthday brunch in favor of the piece and quiet I would have once the kids left. It was a nice few hours. I am doing more and trying just to not move my head much. Not sure how tomorrow is going to work. Plus this coming Saturday I have both girl's cookie parties that I need to get prep work done.

Oh well, I figure it is still better that I have been hit with this now than at Christmas. Hope this moves on quickly and I can get back to normal. I have to say I have enjoyed the rest a little :)

Not Just Another Day...

We have begun the pull-up stage! Now if only A would want to take off the "undies" to go on the potty. She will sit on the potty, but likes to have the pull up on her. She doesn't want me to take it off. Today she didn't even want her"undies" on. She wanted a diaper. So diaper it is. I guess she figured out that I have her go on the potty sometimes if she wears the princess pull-up. I swear the first time she actually pees on the potty she will just get it. Until then it is a new place to play and demand that we all "go way"
Other news is that thanks to the good ol' Catholic school, B came home yesterday all excited about St Nick. See he is the guy that comes around on Dec.5 and put little treats in good girl's shoes. One must leave their shoe out for him at night. B wanted to see if St. Nick would come to our house and leave her a little candy. I was told he doesn't bring presents like Santa, just usually little candies. Good to know! So before bed B set out her slipper and was nice enough to put out one of A's boots too. The excitement was huge when B woke up and found that St. Nick did in fact stop by last night. He brought her some candy coins and a chocolate Santa. He even added a coloring book to the goodies. Yes, due to this new adventure I had to run out to Walgreen's' last night to find something. Seeing her face and hearing her happy voice made it all worth it. Some days it is so great being a parent.

Snow Much Fun

This picture is for those who wanted to see our newest addition to our Christmas decorations. Tom wanted this big time. the girls are so into it. They love talking to baby Jesus. B is also very good about making sure all figures are looking their best.
Well the first big snow of the season has finally arrived. The girls were so excited to play outside today. After lunch they got bundled up and headed outside. A was all about falling down while B was all about eating fresh white snow. The girls had a good time running up and down the driveway (not so deep) and clearing off the blow-up nativity. After about 30 minutes A decided that she had enough and wanted to "go home". I took this opportunity to race B up and down the driveway a few times on the sled. Super fun!

Pictures? What Was I Thinking?!

I had a great idea that tonight after dinner when the girls are usually hyper we would try to get a photo for the Christmas card. The girls were so excited to get into their new Christmas jammies for the photo. They quickly got their hair brushed and were ready to go. Then the fun really began.

I don't know what I was thinking. This is could be the best photo I took. I actually said to the girls that I wanted to see their butts in the chair before I counted to 3. This is what they did. Yup, get ready friends and family for this could be the card photo. Leave it up to my girls to be sooo darn funny.

I did laugh and then I tried other ways of making them sit still. Little A wanted nothing to do with the sitting still part. B just wanted photos of herself. So much for a good idea. On the other hand it sure beat the tears and pouts that I usually get when I ask them to sit for a photo. At least this time it was full of laughter.

Long Weekend

Let us begin with Friday. B got picked to bring home the class pet for the whole weekend! She is the first one and has to write a journal entry about their weekend together. She was super excited about this. I on the other hand did not seem so excited till I saw the pet. Brownie is a cute, soft, stuffed bear. I can deal with that.

Off to pick out our tree as soon as Daddy came home. Good thing he got home early (3:30) for it was getting cold. B dressed Brownie in a hat and couldn't wait to get a photo with Brownie and the tree. Yes, it was a long weekend of taking Brownie with us all sorts of places. As soon as we got to the lot we all noticed just how cold it really was. So we quickly found the "perfect" tree and headed to the greenhouse where it was warm. Once warmer, we picked out our pointsetta plants. And of course took a couple of pictures of Brownie with the flowers and B.

We ended the day with home made pizza and a good movie. We watched Evan Almighty. I had seen it before and knew that it was good for the girls. They really liked the animals and B liked the story of Noah's Ark coming to life.

Saturday I got up at 5:45am to go get my hair cut. Funny I had no problem getting up for my hair cut at this crazy time, but to workout? No way! I came home with fresh bagels and soon with full tummys the girls and I hit Target and Michales for a craft session. Let me just say that my errand day with both girls is about over. They never want to be in the same area, or listen to me. however after the announcement for a missing little girl I quickly grabbed both hands and finished our list. back home B was set on decorating the house for Christmas. I had no interest so she did it alone. Let me say that for the most part she did ok, but there are a few places that need work. For example her idea of putting ribbon along the top of the couch. Not a bad thought, just not that practical. We then had a birthday party to attend across the street. Thank goodness that was all we had to travel for the weather was YUCKY. the party went well till the girls hit the end of their no nap rope. We quickly said good bye and headed back out into the cold sleet.

Today we had breakfast with Santa. I assumed that the girls would be great for this event. they were happy to put on dresses and bows so they would look pretty for Santa. they didn't even mind waiting in line to see him. As soon as we got to be next in line A decided she wanted none of this fat man and ran for daddy. This would have worked well if it hadn't been for the red rope that got in her way. A few tears and we were back in "No Santa" heaven. I am one of those parents that just doesn't care about if my kids sit with him or not. B was all over it since she had a few things she wanted on her list that she had forgotten to write. A stayed with me and didn't want to go near him. This actually was good for me since I have been trying to come up with a man to be Santa at my Mom's this year. It is hard since B seems to be able to figure out who it really is every year. But now knowing that A doesn't want anything to do with him I will stop the search and go without a "real" Santa this year.

After Breakfast we came home and decorated the tree. B was so excited to see all her favorite ornaments. Let me say that it seems like each and every ornament is her favorite. It was cute. the best part of today was the fact that I got both girls to take a nap this afternoon! Even big B fell asleep in a few minutes. It was a nice quiet hour :)

Well I have printed out the Brownie photos and now it is time to write down B's adventure with her now that she is awake. How many more hours till bed time?

Every Princess Needs A Pony, Right?

So we have decided to go against all of our better judgement and money saving thoughts andget the girls this pony for Christmas. This is the pony that moves and stuff. As you can see it can also be sat on. Sad to say it doesn't move.

I have talked myself into this and out of it. Then T and I decided that the girls will both use it and they seem to LOVE it. Little A only wants to "see my pony" as soon as we set foot into Target. B remembers this great toy from the Martin family so she wants one too. Plus she is into horses now and this is cheaper than the real thing.

I have been online daily looking for the best deal and tonight I finally pulled the trigger on it. Walmart had a good offer for the horse and accessories. I ordered and called my parents to let them know a pony was on its way to their house to hide.

B had this as the #1 gift from Santa, but T and I decided that we want the credit for this one. Sorry Santa, but when it is this expensive I get the thanks! Now I have no idea how I am going to be able to keep the secret knowing this will just blow their minds on Christmas morning. I can't wait!

Oh the best part is that if I do still find a better deal I can still return this to any Walmart store. See, I'm always thinking of saving money. Now all I need to do is look at all their other presents and figure out which ones I will return. Wish me luck!

She Is At It Again

Yesterday while I was at B's school for lunch duty I was informed of another one of her "stories".

This time she had 2 teachers convinced that she had an older brother named Elliot. B's teacher told me that B said Elliot went to SCL for school and she went here. B continued to say that I sent them to different catholic schools to save money! Her teacher said that B had a good answer to every question and might have kept it going. It seemed to stop once the other teacher said she was going to call me and ask about Elliot. At that moment B confessed that she was "just kidding".

So perhaps I have a future author on my hands. If not I have a future compulsive liar. I was glad to hear that they thought it was funny and were impressed with her ability to keep the story going with great believable answers. I guess she has a gift! Now if only I can get her to use it for good and not bad...

Questions From a 5 year old

Like many people, many deep conversations take place in the car while driving. My 5 year old is no exception to this. It amazes me what she comes up with to discuss while we are driving. In just a 10 minute drive from school yesterday she came up with these.

B: Mom? Why does God make bad things?

me: God doesn't make bad things. People choose to DO bad things.

B: Why does He let us choose to bad things?

me: Because He gave us the ability to choose. When we do bad things that means we are listening to the Devil not God.

B: Well why would God want us to listen to the Devil?

me: He doesn't. He wants us to listen to Him and be good.

B: Like Santa?

Me: Something like that, yes.

Another set of logic...

B: Why does Santa think crying is naughty?

Me: What are you talking about?

B: In the song on the radio...You better not cry, you better not pout...

Me: You know I have no idea I never thought about it like that. I guess it is crying like when you whine.

B: Oh, I guess that would be naughty then. It is not naughty to cry when you are hurt, right? because then you are sad.

Me: Right again.

All these thoughts in just 10 minutes. Who would believe it?

Turkey Over...Santa Next

We have officially begun the Christmas season. I have done nothing but shop and husband has done nothing but watch the girls so I could shop. It has been a great weekend. I will really miss his help tomorrow when he returns to work and I return to life as a stay at home mom. Not that my life is bad, but it was nice having 2 stay at home parents.

As for shopping I tried to get most of the girls gifts well before Thanksgiving and finished. At least I thought I was. Now with all the sales and new ideas I bought some more. I'm sure I won't believe all the stuff I have once I pull it all out to wrap. Good news is that I can keep some for their birthdays and can return others if need be. As for myself I have gotten a few things and I'm not sure they will wait to be under the tree. I mean I just have to wear the new sweaters now, right?

I did hit the midnight madness at the outlets Friday. Madness is exactly what it was. I was not ready for the amount of adults and kids. Yes, some winner parents thought it was a good idea to bring their 2-6 year old out with them. Now I didn't mind the babies in the strollers who were warm and sleeping, but the 3 year olds that were out till 2 am and being yelled at for whining?!?!? plus both parents were there. I'm thinking one of them could have stayed home with the children. Oh well, to each their own I guess.

I did find a few good deals for myself and my sister and mom. Other than that nothing great. I did get the girls a few items too, but again just clothes, so not much fun. I don't know if will go next year, but perhaps.

Today my mom, sisters,B, and I went to the movies. It was a nice activity that all 3 generations could enjoy. We saw Enchanted. I liked it. (McDreamy was not the reason either.) It was a cute movie. I say go see it if you have girls. There were no bad words, no major sex stuff, and really no bad messages or violence. Hats off to Disney for this one.

So all in all this Thanksgiving weekend has been great. I did miss Philly a little, but it sure was nice staying home.

You Sure You Want To Eat Those?

Yesterday A decided that she wanted to help me make our turkey cookies. She is very into "mixing". She pulled and pushed a chair to the counter and got herself ready to help. The first step was to pour in the powered sugar. I filled the measuring cup and told her to pour it in the mixer. Before I knew it she was telling me "sorry mommy" and there was powered sugar both in the bowl and on the counter. Well how do I fix this? Just eyeball it and pour more sugar in the bowl. A was really upset about making a mess, but after a few "it's ok" from me she was ready to move on to the next thing.

As I continued to add a few more ingredients to the bowl I noticed A was beginning to squeeze a soapy sponge into an empty measuring cup. Then all of a sudden the sponge was right next to the mixing bowl. NO! I yelled. Do not squeeze the sponge into the bowl! "Why?" she cutely asked. The best I could do is "Cause it is gross". That seemed good enough for her and off she went.

Dough was on its way out of the bowl to the freezer and little A kept grabbing dough and saying "yummy, my favorite" Then as I began cleaning the messes she continued to help by licking the remaining sugar up saying "yummy, sugar. I love it"

Needless to say the little helper was not a helpful as I thought, but we still had fun. Hope they turn out tasting good and that A doesn't get sick from the raw egg she licked out of the bowl too :)

The Turkey Is Coming

I am very happy. For one thing it is a yucky day which means no hurry to go outside. I can stay inside and perhaps in my flannel pants for a while. B does not have school today which is good. I am planning to make turkey cookies and perhaps some craft with the girls. Uncle Marty might come over later and spend the night too. Daddy is home too and that means extra hands for me :)

I love Thanksgiving! I find no better holiday than this one. When can I eat and eat and eat without feeling bad? Never! I am looking forward to going to my mom's for a great meal. This is one of the first Thanksgivings that we will not travel to Philly to the in-laws. I will miss being there, but am happy to be here.

One new thing I will be doing this year is hitting the Midnight madness at the outlet mall in WI Friday morning. I am sooooo not a black Friday shopper, but for some reason I want to go do this. The idea of shopping while others are sleeping is cool. We will be going there around midnight and back early so I can still get some rest. Of course in my head I see the whole mall open to only me and there are no crowds and tons of sales. For some reason I don't think the reality will be the same. I will be going with my sisters and hope to find a few deals for me of course :) Perhaps a few gifts for others too since it is the season of giving.

To all of you, HAPPY TURKEY DAY! May it be filled with family and food. I know mine will be.

Instead...

I began my day actually yesterday by planning not to work out, instead I would go today. Getting up this morning I knew I should get in work out clothes right away, but didn't. Instead I decided to wander downstairs and have breakfast. Then it was clean up the kitchen and get kids dressed time. Tom was taking A to a winter parade and B was going to the same parade with a friend. I was going to stay home and go work out.

After the house was people free, I decided again to not go work out. I dressed for a nice walk outside. Well once I got out there I changed my mind. It was cold! So still wanting to work out, I set the kitchen timer for 20 minutes and began running my stairs.

I have about 20 steps to climb from first floor to second. A good amount for stair climbing I figured. And so I was going full out and doing well. After about 3 laps pf stairs up and stairs down I decided that this was much harder in real life than it was in my head. How many minutes have I done this for? After a few more laps I figured I must have used up at least 10 minutes for I was out of breath. I decided I had better stop the stairs because I didn't want my muscles to be so sore that I couldn't go up and down them tomorrow.

I moved on to jumping jacks and mountain climbers. Yeah, that didn't last too long either. I decided I had better go check how much time I had left. What?! The timer must be broken! How could I have done all of that in only 7 minutes?!?!?!

Well heck I better just turn off the timer and find something else to do. A work out just isn't going to happen. I decided instead I would go outside and rake, oh I mean blow the leaves.

My day ended with a soak in the tub. Now some of you might remember a time when I was pregnant with my first and had to take a bath every night to help my itching. That was probably the last time I took a bath. But since I gave the girls each one I figured I deserved one too.

I should have known better. Again, the bath in my head was soooo much better than the bath I actually took. For one thing it is not so relaxing when you can hear the crys of your youngest and her bellows for "fresh water." Nor is it relaxing when your oldest comes in to the bathroom to go potty and decides it would be ok to talk to you. She did point out that if I had cucumbers on my eyes my bath would be more relaxing. It would also be more relaxing if there was no talking!

Needless to say I did not stay in the tub very long. Instead, I am blogging about my day. Relaxing? I will have to say it is.

Project Runway

I was so excited to begin the new season. I recorded it and finally watched it yesterday afternoon with B. She likes the runway show part. It is funny to listen to which dresses she loves and which ones she does not like at all. I might just have a future judge here. She definitely does not hold her feelings back while she comments.

So after we watched the show (which I think has way too many gay men this season) B decided to have her own fashion show. A woke up at this time and wanted to be a part too. Girls went to the basement and gathered all the dresses that they would be showing. This was going to be a long show by the looks of the outfits.

I was on the phone with Jen at the beginning of this and while she was able to hear all the fun instructed me to video the show. I quickly hung up the phone and grabbed the video camera. I am so glad that I did for the show was good. B had so much fun changing outfits and doing her runway walk complete with model pose. Little A had fun too running down the runway and doing a little spin. She never did change outfits like her sister. I was even able to get the girls singing on tape.

We had a good time and it sure was more fun than watching tv. I get a mommy star today. Plus now when we watch the video (has been seen twice) B can't stop laughing. I wish I could get the video on the blog, but don't think I can. Since I was the movie maker I was unable to take photos. Sorry!

What a Mouth

My sweet little A is really getting quite a sassy streak. Last night for example, I took a bite of her ice cream and she immediately told me "NO Mommy!!!" "Spit it out!". And when I did not spit it back in her bowl she got even more pissed. Now perhaps I would have spit it out it if it hadn't been ice cream. Then again, I give her anything and most of whatever I am eating. So I tried to explain that to her. She wanted none of it.

She also ended up on the naughty step for spitting at me twice. I received that because I told her to go upstairs and get daddy to dry her hair.

Her other favorite line to tell me is "have to" this is used when she wants me to do something for her. Even when the request is something I can not do right this minute. I get "HAVE TO!"

Now that she knows how to open the fridge by herself we have opened a whole new world. But this will be saved for another post :)

Fun in the Leaves

Here are a few pictures from our time spent raking up the leaves yesterday. As you can see we had a lot of fun.
I came home from working out and found the troops out back with rakes, gloves, and leaf blower. Needless to say as soon as husband began complaining about how this will take forever and he would rather spend $1000 on a leaf vacuum, I took over.
It took no time at all especially with the blower. B and A even took turns using the leaf blower. Soon the pile was made and it was time for the fun. Since Tom decided that he would bag all the leaves I had no problem with the nice neat pile getting destroyed by jumping and throwing. The girls had a great time as did Tom. He actually let the girls bury him in the pile! I would never do that. I finished the front leaves too and that was it for me.
It broke my heart when I looked outside this morning and saw all my hard work ruined for there were more leaves. The girls were happy, for this meant more piles to jump in. How nice it must be to live in their world.

Who Knew

Tom sent me an email the other day that stated if you put Vicks vaporub on your feet and then put on socks, it would stop your coughing. I was not so sure, but thought maybe since your feet do have many, many nerves and stuff.

Well B now has a full case of her cold induced asthma. So I was actually able to test this new found cough remedy last night. I am happy to report that for some reason it does seem to work. Now it is not instant relief, but within about a half hour her coughing seemed to stop or at least had many minutes between coughs. I was pleased with the results, so we continued this treatment again tonight. Anything to get me some needed rest.

The only down side is that little A also wants to wear Vicks rub and socks. So far we have just given in on the socks part.

Last Weekend With Uncle Danny

The Northwestern football team will have it's last home game this weekend. This means for us that this will also be Uncle Danny's last weekend with us till next April. For many people a weekend house guest gets old after a few weekends let alone an entire football season. For us we will be sad to see him go. It is so nice to have him with us. The girls just love it when he is here. I too like having some of the Philly family here. Danny is Tom's oldest brother so I get to hear a few good "Tom as a baby" stories.

Danny loves to sit and watch the girls play or listen to them sing. He is good at actually playing with them as well (Little A even beat him twice today in dominoes.) Most adults find PBS old after a show or two, but not Danny. He will sit and actually get into the shows with the girls.

April is a long time away, but we will be ready when it gets here. Until then thanks for the visits Danny!

Our Newest Family Member

Well I have finally given into the pleads of B for a webkinz. She has earned her first one and is thrilled to bits. We spent some time today while A was sleeping getting Annabelle's room together. B sure loves shopping! I on the other hand love earning her money by answering quiz questions. Yes, as of now, I am smarter than a 6 year old :)

The bad mommy award also goes to me today for I forgot to pick up my daughter from school. How does this happen you might ask? Well I was out running errands while my sweet parents watched A, and for some reason I thought B got out at 11:30. That would be wrong. At 11:15 my cell rang and thank God, I not only heard it, but was able to answer it. B's teacher was asking me if I was on my way to come get her. B seemed worried that I was not there yet and it was webkinz day. I could not believe that I forgot to pick her up on time. What kind of mother am I? Well, it all worked out except perhaps for my parents who not only had to watch A longer, but now got to feed us lunch. Needless to say Annabelle was also has a new carrier since I felt so bad.

Perhaps one day my mind will return to normal and I will be able to remember simple tasks.

Halloween

This holiday again demonstrated just how different my girls are. When B was 2 she put on a full clown outfit with rainbow wig and red nose. This year she wanted to be a bride. We had the beautiful dress (thanks Kristin) and I made the veil and bouquet.

My little A was going to go as a Renaissance princess. I had the costume from last year and I made the cone hat to match. As you can see in the photo A did not go for it. In fact, she would not even put the costume on. Instead I got her to wear the purple princess costume from our dress-up stuff for a photo. I got her to wear it for the photo and then off it came. To go trick or treating all she would wear was a pair of cat ears. So off she went in a Halloween shirt and cat ears. She loved it too by the way. She was very proud to tell people she was a kitty cat.
There is no way this little stinker will do something if she doesn't want to. I have learned that there is no sense bribing for it doesn't work. I don't fight it either. I just let it go and end up with a costume that she won't wear, but cat ears from the dress-up bin that she is super happy to put on. Kids sure are funny.

Curse the Time Change!

For many, many years the fall time change was my favorite. I liked nothing more than sleeping one hour more and waking up knowing I missed nothing. Well things sure have changed.

The girls have not adjusted to the "sleep more" concept. In fact they are now up earlier than ever before. We are now beginning our day at 5:30 am!! No matter how I try to tell them that they must stay in bed for it is too early, they just don't seem to get it. They are awake so should I. A actually told me today as she went down the stairs that "Mommy is up, daddy is up, B is up, and so A is up. Time for tv"

Good news is that today knowing that they were awake got me out the door to the gym so Tom could deal with them. I don't want the tv on right away, for I swear that if they think they get to watch tv, they will be up this early every day. I am not having that!

I am now looking forward to the end of the week when I pray they have returned to normal sleeping patterns and I can get some sleep.

Pumpkin Time

Here are a few photos from our fun filled pumpkin carving night. Tom did not carve pumpkins as a child so he never really understood this strange act. I on the other hand looked forward to family carving. My dad would do most of the artistic work and us kids would do the scooping. Some years our pumpkin was so large we would put the youngest kid in it too. Mom would take all the seeds and toast them for us to eat the next day. It was and great family activity.

I have tried to create the same in my house, yet until this year it didn't happen. For some reason this year was perfect. Even daddy got into the pumpkins with his girls. B and A loved scooping out the pumpkin guts and spent lots of time playing with them once they were out. A wanted the big spoon and didn't like B getting in her way. B thought she was so funny with her new pumpkin smile. I have to say I thought it was funny too.

The finished pumpkin turned out rather well and it was nice to add it to our decorations. We did have a few more to carve, but figured this year we would stick to just one. I was getting tired :)

Oh Technology

So I am sorry I have been unable to get to my blog for a while. Our house has been going through a technology storm. I have not been able to log on, get to, or view many blogs due to problems with Google and my computer. It took me 4-5 steps and 3 new windows just to get here. We have also had issues with our microwave and electricity. But at this time things are looking better.

I will post Halloween photos and others soon. I just wanted to let you all know that I am alive and have not forgotten to blog.

Not a Mom of the Year Day

I did not sleep well last night due to a few wake ups and also bad heartburn. So that means I did not want to be a mom at 6:45 this morning. I was, shall we say, grumpy.

I finally went in to get A up and B dressed. First thing I did was open B's underwear drawer to find that she had NO clean undies in it. What? How?Why?

I quickly tried to think of how I can remedy this problem. My first thought was send her in tights only, but then remembered it was a full day and I didn't want her all day in just tights. Then I quickly ran to all my purses and bags looking for a "spare" pair that I usually stash when we go out. No luck there either. Perhaps I can run to Target and buy some? Nope that would take too long. Then I just figured I would hand wash a pair and dry them quickly. As I went to the dresser I stopped at A's and took out a pair of her undies. I told B to "just try these on." There is a God, for these size 2T undies fit!!! Yea! Problem solved. Clean undies on and ready to go.

Now what will we eat quickly for breakfast?

Pumpkin Day

A family tradition, we head to Wisconsin for our annual pumpkin day. This is a full day of stops and food. We begin by hitting a deli called Bobby Nelsons. Here we all stock up on salami and cheese curds. Then over to A&W for cheese fries, root beer, and burgers in our car. After a full belly, we head to the pumpkin farm. Today the weather was beautiful and so the farm was packed! But, we still managed to grab a few pumpkins and head to our next stop the Monastery in Burlington. Here we walk the grotto and look around. The girls had fun going into "Mary's House" . Next stop is a park and finally frozen custard. Yes, we do all this in one day! B has begun to remember all the places we need to go and I'm sure A will do the same too. All in all the day was a good one. I did have a few issues like my camera not working and don't know why, and A spilling root beer all over the front of her new pumpkin day shirt. My camera works now of course and all the root beer came out of the shirt. I did bring an extra white shirt just in case I just didn't want to have to use it. So now I will have to find some more pumpkins and do a fake pumpkin day photo.

Date Night

Tom and I were able to get out together on Saturday. He was gone most of the week in Florida for an annual golf trip and I was a single mommy. Before he left I got an email for this show. Tom has always wanted to see Jewel live and I thought this would be the time. So I got us a couple of tickets. I did it mostly thinking that this would be his birthday gift. The worst seats I could find were 4th row center!
Jewel was performing with the Chicago Pops Orchestra. I knew it would be good plus in the theatre there is no bad seat and it is a rather small. So we were set.
I picked him up at the airport wearing my new pants(Julie) from Ann Taylor Loft and shirt too. I love my pants. They make me look thinner! We went to dinner where we split a bottle of wine (yes, I was drinking) and then off to the show.
Jewel did a great job, the orchestra was great and the Italian singer who opened was fantastic. Tom did seem to take a few short naps, but over all it was a good night. I really don't think I have been that close to a singer before. It was kinda neat. She had a great pair of shoes on too :)
As far as our date nights go, this sure beat our usual dinner and a movie.

Girl Stories

Well I know you all like nothing more than to read funny stories about my girls. So here are a few more.

My oldest, who again had to be talked to about fibbing, is the same girl who has been playing St Rose for the past couple of days. They talked about her at school the other day and B was very taken with the story. Why you might ask? That would be because St Rose was know for growing beautiful flowers and giving them away to sick people. B loves plants and flowers. So she and little A took all my fake flowers from out front and "gave" them away. We also went for a walk/bike ride with a basket full "in case we found more sick people." From liar to saint, who would have thought?

Little A on the other hand is becoming quite a stinker. She spent about 20 minutes being put back on the naughty step this morning. This is the same little girl who laid out all of B's school clothes the other night. She even got B's shoes ready at the top of the stairs. See there is a sweet side.

Right now the girls are in the backyard "playing" together. The day is nice and they are having some fun. The only problem is that I have to go out there about every 5 minutes to get them something, or to stop the fight. So much for peace. But at least they are outside and together right?

The Apples Are Gone... Finally

This is the last of my apples from apple picking day. I had no idea what to do with so many apples. Tom tried to help by providing me with a brainstormed list of dishes he might like. B told me she would really like a pie. So pie it is.

Now I do like to bake, but have never made a pie. So after looking and finding a recipe I made my first ever apple pie. It really was not as hard as I thought it would be. Now to be honest I did not make my own crust. I did buy pre-made and pre-rolled, but the rest I did from scratch.

The review was great. All family members raved about the pie. I was happy. Even B told me it was great, the best ever. So I figured a week later since I was still looking at apples I would just crank out another pie. ( I did bring half of this one to my parent's house).

Dessert time and B did not want pie. Why? Oh that would be because she doesn't really like apple pie. What? The last pie (a week ago) was the best thing ever I reminded her. She told me she just said that to be nice and that she didn't really like it all that much. What kids of kid am I raising? She seems to be turning into quite a liar. I will say that this little white lie was much better for my feelings than the war lie.

So long story longer... here is the last pie I made. Tom has stated he would like one again for his birthday (few weeks away), but I told him I don't think so. Enough of the apples for now.

Fire Fighter B

B's class went to the local fire house yesterday. She did not seem very impressed with the trip. She did not seem excited about it, nor did she tell me much. She did however like the hat that they got. She also told me that the fire fighter let each kid spray the hose. She did not like it because it got her wet.

Well, I guess today is a new day. With her hat, and boots, Fire woman B was called to action. She ran to help put out the "fire" in the yard. She sure didn't seem to mind the hose and water now. She put out fires for about 15 minutes. I guess if I pay for the water it is ok, but if the water is free, not ok.
Good to know that even though she did not have too much fun yesterday, she still used the experience to play and pretend.
Now if she only remembered to turn off the water and put the hose away when she was done.

I'm In the Army Now

Funny little story for you.

Today when I picked B up from school she informed me that she will be calling me mommy only at home. I questioned this. Her reply was that when she is around her friends she is going to call me something else. Again, I asked, "why?" and I added, "what are you going to call me?" A few words came to mind but I figured she was still too young to use them. She told me she was going to call me babysitter. Again I had to go with Why? She then proceeded to tell me that she had told some of her friends that her mommy was in the army and was away at war. I was actually her sitter till her mommy came home from the war. I did not really know how to respond to this. I tried not to laugh since the whole war thing is not funny. I asked her if she knew that this as not a very nice thing to tell her friends since she was lying to them. Then I asked who she knew who has a mommy away in the war. She told me one of her friend's daddy is at war. This at least helped me figure out where this idea came from. After a few more minutes we finally agreed that she could not tell this story any more and she would need to tell the truth to her friends tomorrow.

I am still at a loss as to why she need to tell this story. Plus the whole class saw me on Friday when I read to them. However my smarty daughter told them that I come back to visit some days, then back to the war I go. She is quick with her lies. Anyway hopefully this will not progress and I will not be known as the mom of the liar. I do find it funny and somewhat look forward to her next little story about me. Perhaps I need to give her a little more attention?

I'm A Bird

There are days in which it is nice not to have to run out the door first thing in the morning. Take a nice chilly Saturday morning for example. Today the girls woke up late (7:30), missed the chance to go to the Northwestern tailgate with Uncle Danny, and got to eat dunkin donuts in front of the television. Sounds good to me! After a couple of shows they decided to play birds. B got A all decked out with feathers (taped on). A then began running around the house tweeting at the top of her lungs. B did not like being without, so she quickly added feathers to her body and joined the fun. They have been taking breaks from running to add more feathers to their bodies. I wonder how long this will last?

Super Kids

I found these capes on the parent's magazine blog and thought I should share them too. I was all over them until I saw that they cost 50 bucks. Like most moms I try to never deny my kids any kind of toy that will foster their imagination, but this is a little high. They are cute and I like the concept. Now all I have to do is figure out how and when to make them myself. Doesn't seem to be all that hard especially now a days with iron on printer paper. I can't think of anything cuter than a super girl A and a super girl B running around the house. These sure do beat the blankets and towels held together by bag clips that they use now. Guess I can put them on the Christmas list right?

Joinning the World of Puree

For those moms out there who have not read a parent magazine, or watched Oprah this week, the big push in feeding kids is hiding veggies in their food. Why this push? Oh that would be because Jessica Seinfeld wrote a cook book all about how she purees veggies and mixes them in her kids food. I was intrigued after all the reviews I had read. I am not a fan of Jessica (although I do like her name) or her husband, but I like the idea of kids eating better. I have already taken to adding flax to anything I can. B used to like all veggies, but is now for some reason changing her mind. And A does whatever B does. So I like the idea of adding to their veggie intake. Heck even I can use some additional veggies in my cake and brownies.

Well anyway, I thought I would check it out and see if it really as great as everyone is saying. I can't find the book anywhere! It is sold out all over, and I am not going to order it online and pay shipping. So I figured I would wait and get it free from the library. Well no good there either. They don't even have their copy yet. ARGH!!!

Funny, as I was in Barnes and Nobles (coupon in hand) looking for Jessica's book I came across another cookbook just like Jessica's called The Sneaky Chef. This one is written by a publisher of Eating Well magazine and founder of a natural baby product line, not the wife of a famous person. So off the shelf it came. From the glance I gave it it looks just like Jessica's. It even has some similar recipes.

Yes, I bought it. Remember I am addicted to cookbooks and shopping. Now all I have to get is a rice cooker/steamer instead of just using my pot and steam basket on the stove. Oh, and I will need a smaller food processor, and perhaps some sort of container system so I can organize all my purees in the freezer, and ..... Sounds like a shopping trip to me :) SHHHHH, don't tell my husband.

My Sweet Girls

No, really these are a few sweet moments from the girls. I know it is unusual, but I found a few of these moments and thought I should share.

1. Last night as the girls were in B's bed doing their night time snuggle A hugs B and says,"wub you B" I have never heard her tell us she loves us without us saying it first. She said it a few more times, it was so cute.

2. B cleaned up her painting things all by herself today. Some of you might not think this is so sweet, but then you have never seen B's art area after a painting session. It usually takes me 10 minutes to clean it all up. So for her to do it all by herself was so great.

3. Now at first glance this will not seem so sweat, but keep reading. A was grabbing a bag of candy from me telling me to "let go mommy!" I finally did and she brought it right over to B with a proud look on her face. See, the bag of candy I was holding was B's and A was the hero for getting it away from me and giving it back to B :)

Well that should be enough for a while. I'm sure things will go back to fighting and screaming with a mix of hitting and pushing before long. Just wanted to let you in on my change of peace, I mean pace.

My 20 Minute Store Run

Today I went to the grocery store with A. We left B at the library for story time and went to get a few items. Little A wanted to go with me, she did not want to stay to hear the stories. So I figured she would be good. SOOOOO not the case.

As soon as we got there she was on the hunt for a car cart. These obviously were invented by someone who does not have children nor has ever been in a grocery store. Those of us who have had to use this stupid cart now of what I am talking about. These carts are good for about 2 minutes. Then it is all about getting in and out, climbing on top, and no longer wanting anything to do with it. So I end up having to push this monster cart for the whole time instead of a regular cart. They are not easy to maneuver either by the way. They are not a fast stopping nor easy to turn. Both are essential with a 2 year old. So needless to say I was pleasantly pleased to find no available car carts upon entering the store.

A was ok with this fact, but now turned her attention to her new must have. "Holdie Momma" All she wants is for me to carry her. I think not! I am not going to push a cart while holding her. So I again explain that she may walk or ride in the cart. Neither of these options were good to her so the tears and screams began. We have been working on this for a few weeks now so I am used to the tears, and the "Holdie Momma" chant. I am not used to the hitting that began today. Nor am I used to the running into my crotch with huge tears running down her face. My shorts were all wet from these tears. Needless to say I wanted to leave, but really need the few items on my list. So I continued. I tried my best to ignore all the other adults staring at us, and tried to focus on the moms with the "I've been there" looks on their faces. I tried to get her interested in other things like finding the bananas, but that just resulted in her telling me I am mean. Yes, she actually said to me "Momma you are mean". Oh how I love this child.

After 4 aisles and what seemed like 20 minutes of screams and tears, her mood changed. She was now all about helping me and putting everything in the cart. She was picking out different things that she wanted to add to our list too. It was so strange how long this tantrum lasted and then how quickly it vanished.

All I can say is that I do not recall my B ever doing this and I never want to do it again. It does make me remember why God made my little sweet A so darn cute.

Easy To Please

This weekend I was able to go through some of my Grandma's jewelry with my mom and sisters. It was so interesting to see all the great pieces she had. Some look very expensive and others look like, well not me :)

The best part was watching B look at all of the jewelry too. She found every "ugly" piece sooooo beautiful. More than once she stated "Gigi sure was lucky to have all these beautiful things" Every pair of costume clip on earrings or gaudy necklace went right to her. She was never happier. The best part was watching her pick out a ring. It was even better when we showed my dad which piece she picked to keep. I'd say it is a GOOD ring. B asks me now constantly when I am going to take it to the jeweler to find out if she can keep it. I have to keep reminding her that even if she get to keep it (based on value) it is not a play ring. It is a wedding day ring. I'm not sure she totally understands it for she then reminds me "that it fits her finger now."

Good luck to her husband, is all I can say, for she does like pretty things.

Famous Last Words

I AM NOT TIRED AND I'M NOT TAKING A NAP!!!!!!

And then just minutes later I find this. I actually was a little worried that she couldn't breath for it looks like her nose is pressed into the couch. After a quick breathing check I found she was breathing just fine. She ended up napping for about 30 minutes. Good thing she was not tired.

I don't know why I listen to the words of a 5 year old. Good thing I knew she would fall asleep and didn't fight her on this one. I am learning when to battle and when to let it go. Hey, after 5 years one would hope I have learned something. The only problem is that all the great things I have learned are useless with A. For she goes by a whole new set of rules that I have not learned just yet. It sure make for interesting days.

It's No Use

Here is a conversation between A and I this morning.

A: I doing sticker book. K mommy?
ME: Is that B's sticker book?
A: Yes, I do.
ME: I think you should go get your Elmo sticker book
A: No, I do B's
Me: Don't you think it will make B sad?
A: yes, B sad
Me: than go get A's sticker book
A: I do B's book, K mom?

We continued down this road for a few more minutes and then I decided to let it go and she can just use B's book for now. There really is no use trying to reason with her.

Another First

As a mother of a Kindergartner I knew I would be asked to help in different ways. I am so happy to volunteer to read to the class, help with projects, chaperon field trips (as long as it is some place fun)and other ways in which I could use my talents.

There was only one thing I was staying away from. This one thing is lunch mom. This is a mom / dad who watches the class while they eat their lunch. The teacher is on her "kid free" time so they count on parent help for this time. It does not entail going outside, it is strictly while the kids are eating. Not hard really, I just wanted no part of this duty. I like kids, but not that much. Oh who am I kidding? I really don't like little kids all that much. (Main reason why I taught middle school)

Anyways... B was very interested in having me be lunch mom. For weeks she asked when I was going to come. I got her to accept that Daddy could do it and I would do it after Christmas. Well as of Monday I am actually doing it every other Thursday!!! I could not believe this. I had tried so hard to stay away from this job. I know I never signed any paper that said I would do this. How did I get put on the list once let alone twice?!?!

Well, today was my first day as lunch mom. I had to watch 8 kids :) yes, the Thursday group is rather small. Little A comes with me and eats her lunch right next to big sister. She was so excited. B was so happy too. The kids were good, and the time went by quickly. So I guess I can do this a couple of times a month. I mean what is one more trip to school in the grand scheme of things? For all I know this could be the only year I can do this if I go back to work right? I should take all the opportunities that come my way.

So another first accomplished.

We Got Apples!

Today we went apple picking. This is something I used to do with my siblings and grandparents every fall. It was a good time and a special event. I decided that I wanted the girls to experience this too. I planned to go with a friend, but her girls were still not feeling well. I figured the idea was a dead one.

Woke up today and decided that I did not want to stay home and since it was a beautiful day I would take the girls apple picking after all. So after B got out of school we came home, ate lunch, waited for Daddy, and went to Wisconsin to pick us some apples.

There are only a few places left in which one can actually go to the tree and get the apples. Most places now just pick them for you. We decided (and by we I mean me) to go to this dive place where one can still pick from the trees.

The girls had a great time. It was so fun to see the girls looking for the "perfect" apple. I now understand why the apples are not cheep. They need to make up for the "not good enough" ones that get tossed to the ground. Little A took right to eating and enjoyed every bite. I see us doing this again next year.
Now what to do with all these apples???

Another Addiction

I went to a Pampered Chef party last night. I had so much fun looking at all the cooking gadgets. It was so hard not to buy lots and lots. I decided to just host a party and get a few things. So some of you that read this get ready for your invites :)

I have decided that unlike others who love to cook, I simply love to get recipes. I love cookbooks, Cooking Light magazine, and All Recipes.com. I am forever tearing pages out of the multitude of magazines I subscribe to. I have a binder of these pages organized and in plastic sleeves. I will say I have used some of these recipes at least once to see if we like it and /or what I should change. I just find that I have more pages to place in the binder than I actually use. I'm sure if I ever started to compare recipes I would even find some that are basically the same with a different name.

I do wish I loved to cook and bake. I like to do it, but the time and effort needed I just don't seem to have often. So I seem to stick to my handful of regular dishes and just keep get new recipes to put in a pile. And God Forbid if this pile was ever trashed or recycled!!! The horror!!!
Perhaps one day I will love it. I'm thinking that day might be after I get all my new Pampered Chef items.

Updates

Thanks to all for your comments on my shoe dilemma. I will be returning these and looking for something else. Especially since I got a traffic ticket for "disregarding a stop sign". I need the cash to get my license back. I do kinda like the idea of me in leopard, but not sure these do it. Plus now that people know I wear leopard and leather to the park (thanks a lot JS), I think I will just wait to find the right pair.

Something I want to clear up... it has come to my attention that there was a little confusion about my recent posting about the clogged toilet that husband didn't fix. 1. He did not clog it. Little tiny Bridget did :) 2. In our house he is not the gross guy. I do the vomit, blood, and poop. He does other stuff like bugs and dead mice. So, some seemed concerned that my husband was not very good. He is! I just thought it was a rather funny moment and the fact that he would call my dad was even better. And now that this is in print I can't deny what I said. Good thing he doesn't read this blog :)

That should do it for today. Thanks for reading.

Girls, I need help

So I know this is weird, but I need to get some feedback. I got these shoes and really liked them until I got home and showed Tom. He was not as taken with them as I was. I too began not really knowing if I liked them on me or not.
I do kinda think a round toe makes my feet look fatter and short. Maybe the leopard is good, but need a pointy toe?

SSSSSOOOOOO.... I am asking you, my friends to give my HONEST feedback. B helped me take these photos too.

Joan, just think about what UB would comment on in their message board about this post :)
thanks!

No Wonder Bambi's Dad Was Shot

As you might be able to tell from the heading I am so not liking deer right now. In fact I down right hate them. I am so sick of these animals eating every single plant I put in dirt. Even kinds that are "deer proof" they eat! And the poop! I can't walk in my front yard without hopping over many a pile.

I spent a couple of hours Saturday redoing my front flower garden with fall plants. It looked good with the different color mums. I was smart and did not plant the kale that I like because I knew the deer would eat it. I also figured the deer would enjoy the pansy, so I said no to those too. Even though it was all mums, I was pleased.

Flash to Sunday morning. I figured that when I woke up I would be missing one newly planted flower garden. Imagine my surprise when I looked out and saw the mums still in tack. I was so excited.

Excitement short lived. I awoke this morning to find not only had the mums been eaten down to roots, they had also been uprooted and strewn about my front lawn!!! They also made a mess of my phlox that I planted this spring in hopes that they would return next year. I am so pissed! I might as well just plant dollar bills and see if the eat those.

How is it with an entire forest preserve, that they live in, they can't find food? Why do they eat my plants and leave the neighbor's alone? I am just so tired of trying to have a nice flower bed only to have it ruined. Like I don't have enough ruined items due to my kids, why outside too?

So I say, watch out deer I no longer find you cute. I am now into finding ways to get you away from my property! Any hunters out there?

What If I was Gone?

I took a few hours "off" today and went to a few stores to return some things. Husband was at home "watching " the kids. Actually he was in the man room watching the football game, but as long as I could count on him to dial 911 if needed I was fine. I enjoyed my alone time and even stopped at the store for a few ingredients he needed for dinner.

When I came home I was informed that there was a small problem.
I asked,"Other than A sleeping extra long?"
Him: Yup.
Me: What could it be?
him: The upstairs toilet is clogged and I can't seem to fix it. So I left it for you to look at.
Me: So you are going back downstairs to watch the game knowing the toilet is clogged?
Him: Yup.
Me: What would you do if I was, dare I say, on vacation or worse dead? Would you never use the toilet?
Him: No, I'd call your dad or a plumber.

Needless to say, I did fix the toilet in no time flat. So all is back to normal. Mom fixing, Dad watching football.

First Piggies!

Here is a shot of A's first set of piggies. She is the one who asked for them, and who knew she had enough hair to make them. It took a few minutes for me to get used to them, but I really like them. She looks so big now to me. I might have to go back to her everyday pony on the top of her head.

Up Close With A Hawk

I was sitting on the porch that the house across my street when all of a sudden I saw this beautiful hawk fly over. I have seen them around, but never this close. Here he was right on the top of their roof. It was so cool! Even as he flew away I was in awe.
I did also remind Mr Hawk that across the street at my house I have a great lunch and dinner buffet of all you can eat chipmunks, squirrel, and mice. I really hope he takes me up on my offer.
